The Day-Date 40 replaced the Day-Date II with a case Rolex redrew rather than simply shrank: narrower lugs, a slimmer bezel, and the calibre 3255 inside running a Chronergy escapement. In 18k yellow gold with a champagne dial and applied index markers, it keeps the day spelled out in full at twelve and the date beneath the Cyclops, on a President bracelet with a concealed Crownclasp.
