Patek patented the annual calendar in 1996, a mechanism that reads months of thirty and thirty-one days on its own and needs correcting only once a year, at the end of February. The 4947G puts it in a 38mm white gold case with a diamond-set bezel, arranging day, date and month in three apertures below twelve with a moon phase at six. A self-winding movement drives the display through a central rotor.
