Rolex Submariner Date 40mm 1680 – Black Dial

The 1680 was the first Submariner with a date, adding the Cyclops lens to the acrylic crystal in the late 1960s and running until 1980. Early examples carry red Submariner text on the dial, later ones white. The 40mm case is rated to 200 metres, matte dials with painted markers give way to glossy versions near the end of the run, and the calibre 1575 beats at 19,800 vibrations an hour.
