The red and blue bezel dates to the 1955 original, where the split ring let Pan Am crews read day from night at a glance across the 24-hour scale. Rolex returned it to steel in 2018 with a Cerachrom insert, having spent years working out how to fire two colours into one ceramic ring. The 40mm case runs the current GMT calibre with an independently adjustable hour hand.
